The Pre-School Department of Ninting R/C Primary School in the Mampong Municipality, Ashanti Region, has been temporarily closed following a fire that razed the school’s feeding programme canteen and food store.

School authorities say the closure is a precautionary measure to protect pupils from potential hazards, as the affected area remains unsafe for young children.

The fire reportedly broke out around 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, completely destroying the structure used for the preparation and storage of meals under the School Feeding Programme. The food store had been restocked just two days earlier, containing supplies valued at approximately GH₵10,000, all of which were lost in the blaze.

To ensure continuity of the School Feeding Programme, the Municipal NADMO has stepped in to provide emergency supplies, including maize and rice, while a formal report has been submitted to the Municipal Assembly for further support and intervention.

Officials are appealing for assistance to rebuild the feeding programme facilities and resume normal school operations for the affected pupils.
