Accra, Ghana — MTN Ghana and MobileMoney Limited have presented GH¢200,000 in cash and assorted food items to Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu in support of Eidul Fitr celebrations.
The presentation took place at the Chief Imam’s residence at New Fadama in Accra and forms part of the companies’ long-standing annual support to the Muslim community during the festive season.
What Eidul Fitr Represents
Eidul Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic month of fasting, prayer, and reflection.

Donation Details and Support Package
According to MTN Ghana, the support package includes:
- GH¢200,000 cash donation
- 30 bags of rice
- One ram
- 20 cartons of cooking oil
- 40 packs of mineral water
- Assorted beverages and canned drinks
- Milk, sugar, tea, and Milo
The donation is expected to benefit Muslim communities across Accra, Kumasi, Takoradi, and Tamale.
MTN’s Message to the Muslim Community
Presenting the items, Chief Digital Officer Ibrahim Misto said the gesture reflects MTN’s commitment to values of generosity, empathy, and unity.
He noted that Ramadan embodies sacrifice and service to humanity, while Eid reinforces togetherness and compassion — values aligned with the company’s mission.
MTN Ghana is currently marking 30 years of operations, and the donation also serves as appreciation for the continued support of the Muslim community.
Additional Support During Eid Celebrations
As part of its engagement, MTN and MoMo will:
- Set up customer service stands in key locations
- Assist with Mobile Money registration
- Provide transaction support
- Educate the public on fraud prevention

MTN Ghana has supported Eidul Fitr celebrations for 17 consecutive years, particularly in communities such as Nima and Accra New Town.
The company also collaborates with the National Hajj Board to support Ghanaian pilgrims travelling to Mecca.
