ACCRA — Ghanaian artiste Enam Music is back with fresh sound. The singer has released a new single titled “NKU”, which dropped on Friday, October 9, 2026.
Enam announced the release on Facebook ahead of the drop, urging fans to stay up for the song. In the post, the artiste promised listeners that “your soul will bless you,” setting the tone for a record that appears aimed squarely at the heart and spirit.
The announcement carried the hashtags #newmusicalert, #Nku, #hadzivodushi1212 and #enammusic, as fans began sharing anticipation for the new release online.
The voice of Afro-Spiritual music
Enam, born Enam Keteku Angela, has built a reputation as one of Ghana's most distinctive voices. She calls her sound Afro-Spiritual, a blend of ancestral chants, soul and contemporary African music, sung with deliberate use of her Ewe heritage.
Her roots trace back to the shrine. Enam has said her style was shaped by the Hadzivodushis, the priestesses of song at the Yeve shrine in the Volta Region, where she sang with her great-grandmothers as a child. The #hadzivodushi1212 hashtag on her NKU announcement points straight back to that heritage.
The number twelve also runs through her story. Enam was born with twelve toes, a condition she has said led people to label her a witch growing up. She named her debut six-track EP Wuieve, Ewe for “twelve,” and it featured award-winning highlife artiste Akwaboah.
From the shrine to the big stage
NKU arrives as Enam's profile continues to rise. In 2024 she released the single Libation, which she described as a contribution to preserving the libation tradition. She also performed at both the opening and grand finale of Ghana's Most Beautiful that year.
In October 2025, she was the sole musical act chosen to open African Oil Week in Accra, before an audience that included President John Dramani Mahama and other African leaders. The performance drew invitations for her to perform in Namibia, Nigeria, the United States and across Europe.
Enam has been outspoken about the state of Ghanaian music. She has argued that many of today's songs lack spiritual depth, and she has urged fellow musicians to embrace their own culture rather than copy foreign styles. NKU continues that mission.
